Schon wieder so ein Fall, bei dem Magnum nicht so recht weiß, was er von der Sache halten soll. Per Videobotschft beauftragt ihn ein junger Mann mit der Suche nach seinem Mörder. Noch ist er am Leben, doch er ist sich sicher, dass jemand dies ändern will. Seine Familie tut das als Phantasterei ab. Sollte Magnum den Fall dann ernst nehmen.
„Wer ist Hannah?“, fragt der Episodentitel. „Wo ist Thomas?“, fragen sich hingegen Rick und TC. Sie fürchten, dass ihr Kumpel in der Klemme steckt. Ist er gar entführt worden? Will sich jemand an Thomas rächen? Hinter all dem – soviel sei verraten – steckt eine alte Bekannte des Trios.
Magnum hat „Nur 24 Stunden“ für diesen Auftrag. Gelingt es ihm nicht, in dieser Zeit die Unschuld eines jungen Mannes zu beweisen, wird dieser den Mord an seiner Freundin gestehen. Bis dahin nämlich läuft das Ultimatum der Staatsanwaltschaft für einen Deal.
Jubal (Jeremy Sisto) und Rina werden auf dem Weg zur Arbeit angeschossen. Schnell kommt heraus, dass der Angriff ein Attentat darstellt. Dieses ist von einem Häftling geplant worden, um sich am Team und dessen Liebsten zu rächen. Seine Wut scheint grenzenlos zu sein und bringt schließlich das ganze Team in Gefahr.
