Building security expert Will Sawyer is blamed when the tallest, most advanced building in the world, located in in Hong Kong, bursts into flames. On the run from the police, the former FBI agent and amputee must infiltrate the inferno to rescue his family trapped inside, clear his name and find out the truth behind the attack on the skyscraper.

A family is shot in their home, and the initial motive explored by detectives doesn't pan out. As the investigation progresses, Rollins jeopardizes her job by sharing a shocking secret.

Police search for an underage prostitute who's disappeared and realize she fits a pattern of missing prostitutes who placed ads on the same Web site. The case adds conflict to Benson and Haden's new romance as their personal and professional lives blur.

Benson asks Bayard Ellis to defend her estranged half brother in a child-custody case, but unexpected complications arise. Elsewhere, an abandoned newborn is discovered by a homeless couple.

A closed rape case of Benson's is reopened because of its similarities to a new case, and the possibility of wrongful imprisonment surfaces. As Benson's work is questioned, tension develops between her, ADA Haden and Bayard Ellis.

An environmentalist's body is found at an industrial laundry plant, and the investigation puts Benson and Stabler in danger. After more victims are uncovered, Benson unexpectedly reflects on her past while bonding with a victim's daughter (Maria Bello).

An FBI agent (Marcia Gay Harden) is raped while working undercover, and she asks Benson to have her rape kit tested. She then quickly resumes her work to preserve her cover, and only reluctantly allows detectives to become involved in the case, which on the surface involves a protest of a mosque at Ground Zero but really is much bigger.

Stabler speaks at a Take Back the Night rally at his daughter's college campus, and the rally inspires a woman to accuse a fellow student of rape. Stabler and Benson then investigate the case, and ADA Paxton (Christine Lahti) is assigned to prosecute it.

Benson partners with a female detective (Shohreh Aghdashloo) to investigate a DA's murder, and evidence of crime-scene tampering is found. The case then leads Benson to seek help from an assistant U.S. attorney (Gloria Reuben).

The squad members come together to support one of their own; Herrmann tries to figure out how to reopen Molly's after it gets shut down; and Severide digs deep into the arson investigation. (Repeat).

Dawson and Casey meet with Louie's biological father; Severide falls back into bad habits when his efforts to help Anna don't go as planned; Brett opens up to Dawson; and members of Firehouse 51 become competitive. (Repeat).

When truck and squad are summoned to the scene of a dangerous accident, Chief Boden makes a split-second decision that overrides Chief Anderson, the incident commander whose house was the first to respond to the call. Feeling his authority was undercut and his reputation damaged, Anderson uses his power to make things miserable for Boden and all of House 51 feels the repercussions. (Repeat).

Chief Anderson reassigns members of Firehouse 51 to other stations around town; and Boden fights to repair the situation, but it may be out of his control. In other events, Severide toils over an important decision. (Repeat).
