A duel has been arranged at the Forbidden City between two formidable swordsmen of the martial world, Ye Gu Cheng and Xi Men Chui Xue. Lu Xiao Feng smells something fishy about the duel as the two swordsmen never met and do not have any conflicts. He decides to investigate more with Hua Man Lou, and eventually uncovers some hidden conspiracies.

Wang Zhao Jun refuses to bribe the imperial painter, so he draws an ugly portrait of her, preventing her from being selected by the Emperor until they meet in person. The painter ends up in exile and plots for Wang to marry the Huns warlord as a revenge. The Emperor rejects this, provoking a war which is only averted when Wang sacrifices herself.
