Was ist eigentlich Liebe und was bedeutet sie den Menschen? Davor und Andela Rostuhar begaben sich auf eine Reise um die Welt, um das Thema in verschiedenen Kulturen und Religionen zu ergründen. Dafür führten sie in 30 Ländern rund 120 Interviews.
Als alleinstehender Mann ein Kind zu adoptieren, ist in Europa so gut wie unmöglich. Den meisten Männern bleibt nur der Weg ins Ausland. Der Brite Ian bekam mit Hilfe einer Eizellenspende und einer Leihmutter in den USA Drillinge, die er allein großzog. Damit stieß er in England auf Unverständnis. Kein Einzelfall. Das fast einhundert Jahre alte Hochhaus ist ein komplexes Ökosystem, das sowohl innen als auch außen komplett modernisiert wurde – kein leichtes Unterfangen.
Der New Yorker Hafen ist ebenso groß wie komplex. Er beherbergt eines der kritischsten Infrastruktursysteme der USA: sechs Containerterminals, die jeden Tag Millionen Kilos an Fracht ein- und ausladen. Dieses System wird von Tausenden von Arbeitnehmern getragen – von Schlepperkapitänen über die Küstenwache bis hin zu Hafenarbeitern.
Die Skyline von New York verändert sich ständig, da die Stadt immer weiter wächst. Der Bau von Hochhäusern in New York bringt jedoch eine Reihe von Herausforderungen mit sich, wie das dichte U-Bahn-Netz und der allgemeine Platzmangel. Doch die New Yorker Bauarbeiter und Architekten haben kreative Lösungen entwickelt, um mit diesen Problemen umzugehen.
Oft entspricht die Raumaufteilung im Altbau nicht den modernen Wohnbedürfnissen. Es sind viele kleine Zimmer vorhanden oder Durchgangszimmer, manche haben zu kleine oder gar keine Fenster und dadurch zu wenig Licht. Wer es sich leisten kann, strebt den erforderlichen Umbau an. Dabei gilt es viel zu beachten.
Im Vergleich zu einem Neubau, hat ein altes Haus bereits Charakter und eine Geschichte. Viele wissen das zu schätzen und erfreuen sich daran. Trotzdem ist es eine Herausforderung, die vorhandene Bausubstanz, Architektur und Raumaufteilung zu berücksichtigen und gleichzeitig die eigenen Wünsche zu verwirklichen. Noch schwieriger wird es, wenn Zimmer ihre eigentliche Funktion tauschen sollen.

Doch es liegt in den Händen einer kleinen Gruppe von Männern, es innerhalb von nur 40 Tagen bereit für die Wintersaison zu machen. Dazu müssen sie unter anderem 70 Hektar Pisten präparieren, beschneien und sichern – ein Kampf gegen die Zeit und gegen die Natur.
Mit Clemens fahren wir von Lift zu Lift und er nimmt uns auf der Schneeraupe mit, wenn er die Schneekanone anwirft, um die Pisten startklar zu machen. Für die Sicherheit der Gondeln ist Gabriel zuständig. Wir sind mit ihm unterwegs und machen Brems- und Belastungstests und genießen die Vorzüge, die so ein Arbeitsplatz bietet.
Ann Kathrin ist die Skilehrerin – ob Kinder oder Erwachsene, sie bekommt jeden Schüler den Berg hinunter. Wir sind einen Tag lang dabei. Zum Feierabend geht es mit ihr zum Après Ski, und zwar zu Simon in die Toni-Alm. Der langjährige Mitarbeiter kennt jeden am Berg und hat schon so manches Fest erlebt.
„Wanderer vs. Mountainbiker“ heißt es immer häufiger, wenn man sich auf dem Weg zum Gipfel begegnet. Die Zeiten, in denen die Radler die Forststraßen nahmen und die Fußgänger hauptsächlich auf Klettersteigen unterwegs waren, sind vorbei. Ist eine strikte Trennung der Routen die Lösung.
